Fantasy Formula 1 2010
Submitted by ff1 on 24 February, 2010 - 23:13.GO... GO... GO... !!!
It's that time of year again... get your thinking caps on and select your team for the 2010 Fantasy Formula 1 competition. You can also set up your own league so that you and your friends can compete against each other.
The deadline for entries into the Fantasy Formula 1 2010 Championship is Friday 12th March 23:59 GMT.
If you are new to this Fantasy Formula 1 game, first you will need to create a user account. It's quick and simple and just requires you to enter a user name and a valid email address. Once registered, you can begin creating your leagues and teams completely free of charge. I would definitely recommend that you read through all of the instructions, the FAQ and check out the component prices.
If you've played in previous years, you can login and then Create your team now. If you ran your own league last year, all the teams have been removed, but you can use the same league again.
Be careful! I have changed the points allocation this year to take into account the increased number of drivers and the reduced number of engines. So please read the instructions carefully before selecting your team.
In previous seasons, many people have asked if they can change their teams between races. The answer to that is no. Once the deadline has passed, your selections are locked in for the whole season. This is a feature of this site and it will not be changed.
Don't forget that you can also add your league table to your own website, blog or forum using a simple piece of code. Read how to do this.
Site search
Submitted by ff1 on 28 February, 2010 - 21:21.I have now introduced a site search facility. Use the search box on the right of the page to search the site for users, teams, leagues, races, components, forum posts or old teams.
Please try it out and let me know how you get on with it.

Improved login and registration
Submitted by ff1 on 28 February, 2010 - 20:56.Just a quick note to let all users know that you can now login using your user name or your email address. You decide!
Also, on registration, you now need to enter an email address twice. This should improve accuracy and mean that fewer users don't receive a registration email.

The 2009 Formula One season is now over. Congratulations to Jenson Button on a great championship victory.
In terms of Fantasy Formula 1, I want to congratulate Simon Hillery (hilles motorsport), a warehouse manager from the UK, whose team hw racing were the eventual winners of the 2009 Fantasy Formula 1 league competition. The winning team was:
hw racing were joint first since the third race of the season, along with sharpvaders, Moore GP1, Essex GP and Iron chickens, who all finished on the same points. Those tiebreakers are important!

The Final Race
Submitted by ff1 on 19 October, 2009 - 21:43.As the final race of the season approaches, the F1 championship may already have been decided, but both the fantasy league and knockout titles are still up for grabs.
The league will be decided by the tiebreaker, with 5 teams in the running.
The knockout final is between 2 similar teams and will be determined by who does best out of world champion Jenson Button and his team mate Rubens Barrichello.
So make sure you check back here after the last race of the season to find out where you've finished.
Knockout competition
Submitted by ff1 on 7 May, 2009 - 22:30.Thanks to an early suggestion by SIDDY, along with some positive feedback, I am today able to launch a trial knockout competition. Hopefully, this will add a bit of interest to those teams that are not doing quite so well in the league.
The format is simple:
- The knockout competition will operate over the final 13 races of the 2009 F1 season, so the first round will be Spain.
- Every team has been entered into the first round draw.
- The draw for every round is completely random.
- The second round draw will only contain 4096 teams (a factor of 2), so some teams have been given a bye through round one.
- Each match will have only one winner.
- In the event of a tie in the final, the tiebreaker will be used to decide the winner.
- In the event of a tie in any other round, the away team will go through to the next round.
Australia results updated
Submitted by ff1 on 14 April, 2009 - 22:32.As pointed out in this comment, I had made a mistake with the scoring of the Australian qualifying results. I had awarded points for the Toyota drivers, cars and engines as if they had finished 19th and 20th. I should have awarded zero points for these because they were disqualified.
Thank you to swedishchef2003 for spotting the error, reporting it and finally testing my fix. Please continue to shout if you notice any scoring problems on the site.
