Fantasy Formula 1 2012

Enter your teams now!

It's that time of year again... get your thinking caps on and select your team for the 2012 Fantasy Formula 1 competition. You can also set up your own league so that you and your friends can compete against each other.

The deadline for entries into the Fantasy F1 2012 Championship is Friday 16th March 23:59 GMT.

If you are new to this Fantasy Formula 1 game, first you will need to create a user account. It's quick and simple and just requires you to enter a user name and a valid email address. Once registered, you can begin creating your leagues and teams completely free of charge. I would definitely recommend that you read through all of the instructions, the FAQ and check out the component prices.

If you've played in previous years, you can login and then Create your team now. If you ran your own league last year, you will need to create a new league for this season as all the old ones have been removed.

Be careful! After feedback from many users, I have made some major changes to the pricing structure this season to avoid engines being so crucial. So please read the instructions carefully before selecting your team.

Also, I have imposed a limit of 5 teams per person this year. This is again responding to user feedback. If you have a genuine reason for creating more teams, please let me know and I'll increase your allowance.

In previous seasons, many people have asked if they can change their teams between races. The answer to that is no. Once the deadline has passed, your selections are locked in for the whole season. This is a feature of this site and it will not be changed.

Don't forget that you can also add your league table to your own website, blog or forum using a simple piece of code. Read how to do this.

The 2011 F1 Season is over!

Well, what a great season! Even though the championship was over half way through the season, in my mind this has been one of the most enjoyable F1 seasons for years. So, congratulations the Red Bull, Sebastian Vettel and also to Jenson Button for grabbing that much sought after second place.

With the end of the F1 season comes the crowning of the 2011 fantasy f1 champion. This glorious prize goes this year to Matt Dawson, whose team Copse Corpse, was among 82 teams that scored an amazing 5485 points and led the way for the entire second half of the season. Fortunately for Matt, his tie breaker time was an unbelievable 1.659 seconds away from Mark Webber's finishing time in Brazil. So please post your comments and join me in congratulating Matt in his victory.

Matt had this to say:

I think it was obvious early on that Vettel would dominate but what was most satisfying (as a fan) was seeing Paul di Resta do so well. I think in a better team he could really start to challenge for podiums. I imagine it will be more difficult to pick the two of them in the same team next year but I look forward to giving it a go!

Improvements for 2012 Fantasy F1 Game

Here is my list of things I'd like to do for 2012. I don't expect to achieve it all, but with help from users, we could make some great progress:

  • Upgrade to Drupal 7
  • Add Facebook integration
  • Add discussion pages for each league
  • Improve reliability of auto updates
  • Any other suggestions...

Please add comments with offers of help or suggestions.
