so it swayed my way into not picking a very good engine. then today i realise i have picked the 1st and 3rd best driver the 2nd best team. it clearly is the most important as every 1 near the top has over hundred point for there engine were as driver only gets 60 for winning could u please tell me how u have avoided engines being so crucial
there is now no point me playing this game as engine is to important and no matter how my team and drivers do i am going to be no were near the top unless u could let me change many thanks

Points System
Totally agree. Definitely sour grapes and definitely not happy with how the engine is skewing the points. Based on the fact that FI is based upon the best driver and best team surely the points system should reflect this?
Re: points system
I'm sorry if you made a bad team selection based on something I said. However, I stand by that statement. I didn't make any changes to the points system, I made changes to the pricing structure. What that meant was that the prices of the engines reflect their points scoring capacity unlike last season when drivers and engines were similarly priced.
I try to make small changes every year to keep the game interesting for the regular players as well as the new players. Unfortunately, these changes are not always going to please everybody.
For information, I have uploaded a spreadsheet that shows the points per £million for each component after the first race. You'll see that the first engine is in 12th place.

thanks for taking your time to reply to me but what i read in ur post was engine is not as important but u get way more points for engine than u do for the driver who actully wins the grand prix
i got 1st in quallfying 1st in the race with driver 1
i got 6th in quallfying and 3rd in the race driver 2
my team was renault i finshed 3rd in constructers
and i end up over 1;000 on the game server how is this
dont u agree this is not quite right that the engine is so influential to winning be nice if u reply to this
I myself thought it was a
I myself thought it was a given that engines were going to play a more integral role no matter what Ian has said. I believe all that's happened here is miscommunication and unfortunately it'll end up hampering your season. Hopefully you'll stick around, I myself only found this website on deadline day and as a result didn't put as much thought into my team as i'd have liked.
When there are numerous cars using a renault engine including the force that is Red Bull I couldn't pass up on that oppourtunity. Especially considering its fairly low price.
Re: points system
Don't despair Sam. I think you have a great team! The Cosworth engine will definitely pick up a fair amount of points if they can get a bit more reliable and HRT can qualify a bit quicker. I hope you stick with it.
I do agree that engine selection is influential, but then engines were very expensive. You can't expect to pay £26m for one component (Vettel) and then expect the same scoring potential as a component costing £38m (Renault engine). That sort of analysis pre-season is the whole reason that thousands of people (including myself) enjoy playing fantasy f1 each year on this site and others. The trick is to spot the bargains!
Again, I am sorry that my comments led to you making a choice that you now regret. Hindsight is wonderful! I hope you can enjoy this season despite the start and then use this experience to help you with next years selection. :)

Ian
