What results are considered final in FantasyF1?
The rules nor instructions do not state, which results are to be considered final in the world of FantasyF1. Let's take the Australian GP of today for an example. Are the final results going to include Saubers though they were DSQ'd?
I'm asking this because currently the results are taken from 2010, which is obviously wrong. When the admin is going to fix them, what will he use as a reference? I suppose that earlier we have used the results that are first announced, no later modifications done. This is different, because the real-life results have been altered before we have had correct ones in here.
Whatever the decision is, it should be in line with whatever has been done in the past years and IT SHOULD BE ADDED TO THE RULES! Just for clarity's sake.

Disadvantaged by incorrect results
if the correct results had gone up when they should, I would have had the Saubers in there.....When ARE they going to correct all the results?
The results should reflect
The results should reflect the true real life results otherwise it's pointless. If Sauber are out of the results then that should be the case in FantasyF1
Not reasonable
So, you say that the points should be changed, if - for example - a protest is made and it is handled several weeks or months later? That would ruin this game completely.
Also, Sauber has already lodged an appeal. It will most likely not be processed in a few days. It would only make a mess, if we had to change the scores every now and then. There is no logic behind this.
But: these things have happened every year and we should handle this case in the very same way as the ones in the past. Since this is my first season here, I don't know what the policy has been before.
It also says in the rules, that qualifying points are awarded by the "qualifying results" and penalties and such have no effect. I expect this will be the policy with race situations too.
The results should represent
The results should represent the "TRUE" result of the race and not any provisional results. It would be best to update the site once the provisional status of the result has been confirmed by the FIA.
That would be the fairest way to deal with this, and any other, fantasy F1 system.
Fairness is subjective
The rules of the game dictate what is fair and what is not. If the rules say that the results for all races are official only after the world champion has been crowned and the FIA has officially sealed it, then so be it.
The point of this thread was not argue about personal opinions. I wanted to know, what the rules of this game say about these situations and how will this puzzle be solved.
And.....as there is no real
And.....as there is no real definition in the rules....I am registering my opinion.
Lighten up, it is only a game!!!
It's only a game
It's only a game, I know. Glad that you realised that too. There's no point trying to follow the real life in every little detail. But if you do not have clear rules, then there will be contradictions. And when that happens, the fun dies. Nobody wants to play such games.
The written rules don't handle these situations, but there must be a certain policy the game has adopted.
Re: rules
Firstly, sorry for the mess up with the results today. It was completely my mistake. I'd forgotten to update the URLs where the results are collected from, so it just grabbed last years results instead. Rest assured, it won't happen again.
Secondly, this is a great discussion about the rules. The rules as they stand have grown up over the past 6 years and are now fairly complete. Unfortunately, there will always be edge cases that I've missed.
The Provisional / Official status is based on the official FIA ruling. When the FIA changes the results of a race from Provisional to Official, this site will update with the latest results from the FIA and they will be marked Official. Until then, the results are provisional and subject to change.
I can only remember one time when there was an appeal against the results weeks or months after the race. On that occasion, the results were changed and I updated the scores on this site accordingly. I guess that sets a precedence and should therefore be added to the rules.
Comments welcome...

Evidently i'm disappointed as I had a Sauber racer in my team, despite my disappointment though your decision is spot on and i'm sure my team will keep on fighting.
