General

With Fantasy Formula 1, you get to be the boss of your own formula 1 team (well...almost!). You get £90 million to spend on 2 drivers, a car and an engine. Then, during each race, your team collect points depending on how well they've done. You get points for race position, qualifying position, fastest lap and if both cars from your chosen team finish the race. After each race the league table is updated and the player with the highest score at the end of the season is the winner. Simple!

Registering

To enter the fantasy formula 1 competition, you must first create a user account. To do this, you only need to supply a username and a valid email address. Your password will then be emailed to you. Once registered, you will then be able to create leagues and teams.

Leagues

Here at Fantasy Formula 1, we've set up a public league for anyone to join. This will allow any individual a chance to play in this great online game. If there is a group of you who want to play together, you can set up your own league so that you can compete against each other. If you don't want anyone else to join this league, you can make it a private league. This is great for groups of friends, colleagues or clubs. There are no prizes for these leagues, so to make it more exiting, you could all put in a pound or two and play winner takes all - its entirely up to you.

To set up your own league click here. There is no limit to the number of players you can have in your league (the more the merrier!). Once you've created your own league, you'll need to send an invitation to all the people you want to join the league with you. Tell them the name of the league and, if you have chosen to make it a private league, make sure you remember to include the password.

If you run your own website, blog or forum, you can now add your league table so that it displays right there on your site. It is very simple and certainly makes the league feel like your own. Read how to do this.

Teams

To create your team, click here. Once you've created your team, a 'my teams' menu item will appear, which will enable you to view all of your teams on a single page. From here, you can enter your teams into an unlimited number of leagues by clicking on the 'join league' link next to that team. Every team is automatically entered into the main public league, so you can check how you're doing overall. There is no limit to the number of teams you can enter, but to avoid arguments, you should not enter the same league twice.

Rules

Here are the rules that all players entering the Fantasy Formula 1 2011 championship must follow:
  • Each player gets £90 million to spend.
  • Each player must choose the following
    • 2 Drivers
    • 1 Car
    • 1 Engine
  • Both drivers must be from different F1 teams.
  • The Car and Engine must be from different F1 teams.
  • Each player must also have a guess at the winning time of the final race of the season. This will be used in the event of a tie.

Scoring

After each race weekend, the following points will be allocated depending on the results of the qualifying and race sessions:
  • Drivers, Cars and Engines will receive the points shown in the tables below, based on their qualifying and race positions.
  • Drivers who do not finish a race will receive no race points.
  • Drivers who do not take part in a race will receive no race points (no matter what the reason for not taking part).
  • Drivers who do not take part in qualifying will receive no qualifying points (no matter what the reason for not taking part).
  • The driver who records the fastest lap of a race will receive 25 bonus points.
  • Cars that do not finish a race will receive no race points.
  • Cars will receive 20 bonus points if both cars finish the race.
  • Engines that do not finish a race will receive no race points.
  • If a driver changes teams part way through the season, that driver will continue scoring points. Any team containing that driver will continue to accumulate his points.
  • If a driver is replaced part way through the season, that driver will stop scoring points and his replacement will NOT score points in his place. So any team containing a replaced driver will NOT accumulate the points of the replacement driver.
