Cup Comp to keep the lower teams intrested

How about a cup comp between every team as teams that are lower down the league could still progress if they have a good weekend and rack up the points?
Straight knockout comp with your tie breaker used in a tie for points for that particular round??

Hi could you remove CMP 3 from Superstars of Darts league please

Missed that one

Sorry, I'd missed that request. I've now removed team CMP 3 from the league Superstars of Darts.
Ian :o)

Count me in!

It works really well in fantasy football, knowing you only have one team to beat in a head-to-head.
Good thinking Batman.

Is that telegraph fantsy football?

If so I'm doing that too and I like that section of the game so i think it would be good for this site.

IS THERE A NEWSLETTER THAT CAN BE SENT TO MY EMAIL TO INFORM ME OF ANY NEW CHANGES? OR EVEN EVEN UPDATE ME ON MY TEAMS/LEAGUES STATS?

Possibly an update email

In the 2007 season, I had the site set up to send out an email after each race, updating you on each of your teams performance. But the site has grown too much and there are now server limitations on the volume of emails. I'm working on an email queue system at the moment and hope to send emails after the first race, but these will be limited to only 400 per hour. So it could be some hours after the race before you get your email.

Would it be possible for

Would it be possible for this season??

should leagues go against leagues aswell?

Leaving a league

Is it possible to leave a league you have joined?

I'll do it for you

Let me know the team and the league and I'll do it for you.

leaving a league

My team is Smash Dem Guinea Pigs! and I want to leave the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. I meant to join with my other team, but I did it wrong because I'm an idiot. Cheers!

Lindsey

League left

That's done for you.

A cup for our F1 teams

Having a cup to keep us sliding teams interested in our flagging teams seems a great idea especially with the new changes in car specs causing such unexpected results.

Cup competition

I'm still working on the cup competition. I've worked out that it can start on race 5 (Spain) and the winner will then be decided in the final race of the season.

I'm having a bit of trouble with the code for running the competition, so it may have to begin very manually. It will certainly only be run on a trial basis where I make improvements (mainly to the presentation of information and the automation of results) between each round. I'll certainly need some help from everyone to iron out the bugs.

For the rules, I'm thinking:

  • Random draw for each round.
  • Random byes in the first round for X teams to ensure the right number of teams make it through to the second round.
  • Winner is the team scoring the most points in that weekend.
  • If both teams are tied, use tiebreaker against the overall race time for that race.

The first 3 are quite obvious, but the final one has options. We could use home team, away team, random, or [any other suggestions?].

Let me know your thoughts. I want to do the first round draw next weekend.

Super 20's

Well I play Telegraph Fantasy Football adn they have a thing called "Super 20's" Where they randomly pit 20 team in a mini league and every week who ever gets the more points wins i'm not sure how you could put this into a F1 format but i thought i would just say.....

Cup Competition

Sounds good. It's hotting up anyway so this would only add to the fun!

Re Cup Comp

Cup sounds like a good idea.
However, as you already mention you will need a tiebreak owing to the (and this is not your fault) limited number of possible choices any of can make. What about using each individual item (as opposed to total score): first driver, second driver, car, engines to differentiate. Even two teams with, say Vettel and Button could be decided by whoever picked Button (if his form continues) as Driver 1, as the tiebreak. Only after that would you need to return to the utterly race timings as your ultimate decider.

I know this has come up before, but what the game really needs is transfers. I would suggest a mid season break and open the team choices again between 2 races, setting, as you did for the season opener, a deadline after which we are all locked in again. Everyone would have been caught out with how F1 has gone so far in 2009 and even with a transfer window, I suspect post Spain the "big Guns" will re-enter the Championship - so those lucky to have picked Button and Barrichello will have to decide whether to stick or twist, as will those currently backing Raikkonen and Hamilton...

Hmm interesting

That is a very good idea in my eyes.
